Engineering is about turning ideas into reality. From the beginning of my career, I have been driven by one simple belief: if we can understand nature quantitatively, we can build responsibly.

Whether it is designing flood-resilient cities, controlling water pollution, or managing scarce water resources, every engineering decision starts with determining the right parameters—numbers that describe how systems behave. The more accurately we estimate these values, the more confidently we can act to protect people, the environment, and resources.

The Evolution of Modeling

Over the past few decades, methods of estimating engineering design parameters have evolved dramatically. Once dependent on simple and often empirical formulas, we now use sophisticated models grounded in science and powered by high-resolution data.
