GeoSWMM Version 5.5

February 26, 2026

GeoSWMM 5.5 introduces a major usability enhancement to the Watershed Delineation Tool, along with bug fixes and workflow refinements that improve stability, accuracy, and overall modeling efficiency.

New Features

Save and Continue Watershed Delineation Workflow

The Watershed Delineation Tool now fully supports saving intermediate steps as part of the GeoSWMM project. Users can save progress at any stage of the delineation process and continue later without repeating completed steps.

Each major processing step is now automatically saved, ensuring that intermediate progress is preserved throughout long-running or complex delineation workflows. For example, imported datasets-such as sewer networks and streams-along with attribute mappings and configuration settings, remain intact when the project is reopened.

This enhancement is particularly beneficial for large urban watersheds and iterative modeling workflows that require multiple sessions or refinement cycles.

Resolved Issues

Issue Name

Description

Improved Drawing Workflow in Watershed Delineation Tool

Enhanced the drawing workflow within the Watershed Delineation Tool for generating outfall points, defining user-specified DEM masking polygons, and placing outlet points for delineation. Key reference features can now be displayed directly within the editing environment, allowing users to visually align newly created features with existing watershed and outlet elements.

2D Layer Creation Stability Improvement

Improved the 2D layer creation workflow to ensure consistent behavior when working with different input dataset formats and layers stored in a file geodatabase (.gdb). The process now operates reliably across all supported data sources.

Feature Selection Synchronization Between GeoSWMM Model Object Panel and ArcGIS Pro Map

Selecting features from the GeoSWMM Model Object Panel and pre-processing tools now correctly highlights the corresponding features in the ArcGIS Pro map view, improving spatial navigation and model review efficiency.

Impervious Area Attribute Calculation Refinement

Resolved a rare edge case affecting specific subcatchments in which impervious area attributes could be calculated inconsistently. Impervious values are now computed accurately during both initial model generation and subsequent model updates.

Model Simulation and EPASWMM .inp Export Improvement

Enhanced the EPASWMM .inp export workflow to better handle cases where certain attributes maybe incomplete following GIS-based edits. Th improvement now ensures more consistent model generation and stable simulation performance.

Watershed Delineation Workflow Refinement for Imported Streams and Sewer Networks

Resolved an issue that caused occasional inconsistencies in watershed delineation when using imported stream and sewer network data. The Watershed Delineation workflow has been refined to ensure accurate watershed boundaries and proper alignment with network topology.

Clipboard Functionality Enhancement in GeoSWMM Object Tables

Improved clipboard functionality in the GeoSWMM Object Tables to ensure consistent operation across all fields.

Improvement of Watershed Delineation Tool

Addressed a condition in which the application could become unresponsive when running the Identify Overlapping Streams function within the Watershed Delineation workflow.

Improved DEM Compatibility

Expanded DEM format support (including GRID and TIFF) across all DEM-dependent GeoSWMM tools, improving compatibility and workflow flexibility.

Updated Success Message in ID Mapper Tool

Updated the ID Mapper tool logic to ensure success notifications are displayed only after successful execution.

Improved Error Message in Width Calculation Tool

Updated the warning message in the generated Watershed Table when adjusted channel length values are negative or equal to zero, improving clarity and user guidance during model review.

Project Default Value Assignment for Null Attributes During Data Import

Implemented automatic assignment of project default values for null or unassigned attributes during the Import Data process. When available, values are populated from the source layer; otherwise, missing attributes are filled using defined project default values to ensure model completeness and consistency.

Improved Workflow for Surface Flow Path Tool

Updated the Surface Flow Path tool workflow to maintain compatibility with ArcGIS Pro licensing changes, ensuring proper operation across all supported license levels.

Improved Methodology for Network Analysis Tool

Enhanced the methodology of the ‘Based on Location’ module with tolerance-based snapping and improved flow-direction handling to ensure reliable connectivity analysis across complex network configurations.
