Link Inlet-Outlet Assignment Tool

The Link Inlet-Outlet Assignment Tool enables users to automatically assign Inlet and Outlet node to corresponding conduits. In case of large models with a high number of nodes and conduits, manually assigning the Inlet and Outlet nodes can be tedious and time consuming. The Link Inlet-Outlet Assignment Tool may be used to make this task easier. This tool should be executed during the preprocessing phase of the GeoSWMM project. The tool requires a node layer and the conduit layer as input. In addition, attribute column names need to be specified where the tool will preserve the inlet and outlet node name for each conduit. Users may assign valid field names from the available columns in a drop-down list or insert a new field name. The interface of this tool looks like the Fig. 90.

The characteristics of the required input features in the Link Inlet-Outlet Assignment Tool are described below.

Node layer

Layer Name is the name of the Node layer which contains the Inlet and Outlet names.

Name Field is the attribute column name which contains the node names.

Link Layer

Layer Name is the name of the Conduit layer.

Inlet Field is the attribute column name of the Inlet nodes. The appropriate column can be selected if created before the operation of this tool, or the user can choose to create a new attribute column field by typing the column name.

Outlet Field is the attribute column name of the Outlet nodes. The appropriate column can be selected if created before the operation of this tool, or the user can choose to create a new attribute column field by typing the column name.

Snap Tolerance is the distance within which the node snaps to the conduit. If the node being snapped to a vertex or edge of the conduit is within the distance the user sets, the node automatically snaps to the corresponding conduit. The snap tolerance value is set in the map linear unit.
